Howard Kennedy media department walks

Howard Kennedy has parted company with its six-partner media practice, with three of the team poised to launch their own boutique.

Susan Aslan, Sue Charles and Hakan Kousetta are set to launch media boutique Aslan Charles Kousetta next month, taking associates Nick Miller and Laura Baglow with them.

Partners Leighton Lloyd and Justin Stephenson are understood to have secured positions with rival firms, while Brian Eagles is now with Howard Kennedy’s corporate practice.

For the 2006-07 financial year Howard Kennedy reported average profit per equity partner (PEP) figures of £547,000, but the media department is understood to have a completely different revenue profile.

That said, Aslan denied that the practice had been made redundant, saying: “We wanted the flexibility of being in a smaller, more flexible practice. Howard Kennedy is very keen not to lose a media capability and wants to maintain a relationship with us.”

In his new role, Eagles will be responsible for coordinating a referral relationship between Howard Kennedy and Aslan Charles Kousetta.

In a statement, Howard Kennedy said: “As a result of discussions we have agreed that both firms will maintain a close working relationship, cross-referring work appropriate to our respective capabilities so as to enable us to provide a full range of services to our respective clients.”
