Shipping

Like all dispute resolution-based practices, shipping has not seen as much litigation as it had in previous years. But that does not mean there is a lack of work. The beaching of MSC Napoli on the shores of Cornwall, which saw much of the ship’s cargo looted in January, has kept Clyde & Co and Holman Fenwick & Willan busy this year. There has also been a flurry of arbitration cases going to the courts for arbitration clauses and rules to be clarified.

This Shipping Special Report examines how arbitration is changing and whether Singapore is rivalling London as the dispute centre in the fields of shipping and international trade.

The report also takes a closer look at the repercussions of the decisions in West Tankers and the Golden Victory, which have broad implications for the shipping arena.
