Lovells has beefed up its London environmental and health & safety team with the hire of Baker & McKenzie partner Christopher Norton.
Norton, currently head of Bakers’ environment and climate change practice, will lead the five-strong environmental team at Lovells. He represents the firm’s eighteenth lateral hire this year and his appointment comes seven months after Lovells lost the team’s former head Louise Moore. She left to join Herbert Smith as an equity partner last December.
Norton is known for advising on environmental risk management in M&A transactions and brownfield site redevelopments, as well as on the international legal regime relating to climate change, UK and EU emission trading schemes, renewable energy and carbon credits.
At Lovells the environmental team sits alongside the commercial and regulatory team within the corporate practice. The team provides support for transactions as well as doing standalone contentious and non-contentious work for clients.
