The former chief executive of DLA Direct, Andrew Bennett, is joining Cobbetts as a partner nine months after being replaced by chairman David Medcalf.
Bennett joins Cobbetts’ financial services team in Leeds as a partner. He was replaced by Medcalf at DLA’s volume arm in April 2005 in a bid to turn around the struggling business.
Meanwhile Cobbetts’ managing partner Michael Shaw has been relected for a third three-year term after an uncontested election. Shaw has seen the firm through a period of rapid growth which has included four mergers in Birmingham and Leeds and turnover growing to £50m during the past two years.
Shaw said he was “gratified” to have the support of his partners, adding that while he was proud of the firm’s recent growth it could not afford to be complacent.
