Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has introduced a benefits scheme that allows all employees, but not partners, to access benefits such as a defined contribution pension scheme.
The scheme, which 60 per cent of employees have signed up to, awards each member of staff a pot of money that can be invested in a range of ways, with medical insurance and life assurance on the roster.
Staff also have the option of cashing in the pot of money.
Global HR director Kevin Hogarth told The Lawyer the firm had considered making ;the ;scheme available to partners, but as they are not employees it had decided against it.
He added that associates who sign up to the pension will be able to continue with the policy when they make partner.
