Anthony Boswood QC has stepped down as head of magic circle set Fountain Court, which for the first time has appointed joint heads: high-profile commercial silk Michael Brindle QC and Michael Lerego QC.
It is understood that Lerego was Boswood’s natural successor, while Brindle, with his international profile, was a natural choice for a prominent role with the set. Following an election, both Lerego and Brindle, who is acting in the Barings litigation and preparing for the massive Oracle Fund insolvency case starting in the Bahamas in January 2003, were appointed joint heads.
Brindle, the previous chairman of the Commercial Bar Association, will be responsible for external publicity and marketing, while Lerego, a banking specialist, will oversee the internal running of chambers.
According to The Bar Top 30, part of The Lawyer 100, Fountain Court was the third-biggest grossing chambers at the bar last year, posting revenues of £27m. This was a rise of 8 per cent on the previous year, following a rise in 2001-02of 32per cent.
