Simmons' record crop of partners

CITY-based Simmons & Simmons has bumped up its partner list with a firm record of 18 newcomers.

The figure is also believed to be the biggest batch of new partner appointments to be unveiled by any law firm this year.

Simmons now has 137 partners, after confirming the 10 appointments to the London office, four to Hong Kong, three to Paris and one to Shanghai.

The firm says there have been no departures during the year. “The appointments reflect striking growth in London and overseas,” says senior partner Alan Carr.

Departments covered in the changes are corporate, banking, commercial, employment, litigation, intellectual property and private capital practices.

Norton Rose has appointed six new partners – five in London and one in Paris – across the banking, commercial litigation, corporate finance, commercial property and asset finance departments.

v Three new London-based partners have been appointed at SJ Berwin, and Berwin Leighton and Fox Williams have each welcomed one new partner. At South West law firm Clarke Willmott & Clarke, husband and wife Chris Taylor and Hillary McIlveen have been made up to partner.
