Travers introduces new head of private equity

Travers Smith Braithwaite has appointed Charles Barter as head of the firm’s eight-person private equity group.

Barter replaces Chris Hale who became head of corporate over a year ago.

There was no formal selection process, instead Barter was appointed by informal consensus. He said, “it was always understood that when Chris was no longer head of private equity I probably would be.”

Barter co-founded the firm’s private equity group in 1996 and counts the likes of Bridgepoint Capital and Phoenix Equity Partners as his clients.
