Clifford Chance New York sees global leader quit

Clifford Chance has sustained another blow to its battered New York office as the global head of US securities defects to Gibson Dunn & Crutcher.

Kevin Kelley is a legacy Clifford Chance partner who first joined the firm in 1992 from Sullivan & Cromwell.

Kelley, who moved to Gibson Dunn today (15 March), is just one of over 20 partners who has left Clifford Chance’s New office in the past 18 months.

However the majority of the departures from the firm in recent months were historically Rogers & Wells partners.

Kelley, who is understood to have a book of business worth $3m, was responsible for establishing Clifford Chance’s securities group in both New York and the UK.
