It is understood that a number of firms have been vying for Nabarro who shocked the Paris legal market by resigning from Ashurst last week, as exclusively revealed by The Lawyer.
However sources indicate that Nabarro is far down the line in his negotiations with Allen & Overy. Although it is understood that a vote on his joining the firm is yet to take place.
Nabarro, a partner with Ashurst since 1997, is a well-known and highly respected finance lawyer in the region and counts the likes of HSBC, Royal Bank of Scotland and ING among his clients.
A spokesperson at Allen & Overy said: “We do not comment on market speculation.”
