Clifford Chance Luddites delay governance vote

Technophobic Clifford Chance partners have been blamed for a hold-up in the voting of the firm’s governance review

The review’s partnership vote has been delayed until 5pm today (15 July) after a poor response.
Last week CEO Peter Cornell emailed partners to exhort them to vote, only a third of the worldwide partners having done so.
However, deputy COO Chris Perrin told The Lawyer: “I’m not sure it’s apathy. We’ve moved over to electronic voting and some partners are finding that less easy than filling things in.”
There is no set majority required to pass the review, expected to be endorsed this week. As reported in The Lawyer (17 June), it proposes a management overhaul for the autumn.
