Nabarros and McKennas act on record retail deal

MCkenna & Co and Nab-arro Nathanson acted on the largest out-of-London property transaction this year.

They spearheaded the £90 million sale of the Fort Retail Park in Birmingham to a group of City investment institutions which included Pearl Assurance, Clerical Medical and British Airways Pensions.

Nabarros advised the buyers and McKennas acted for Fort's owner, Tarmac Richardson Developments.

The development is substantially pre-let to tenants including Burtons, Boots, Bhs, WH Smith, Next, Richards, River Island and HMV.

The McKennas team was led by Charles Gait, backed up by planning expert Tony Kitson, Siobhan McClosky on the construction side and David North.

Donna Stringer led the Nabarros team with support from Nick Downing, Roger Sherlock, Stephen John, Jane Dockeray, Katrina Angliss, Anna Marshall and Lydia Simpson.

In another deal, Denton Hall advised the Commission for New Towns on a £100 million retail project on an eight-acre site in Milton Keynes. The developer is London & Amsterdam Properties, advised by Berwin Leighton.
