Clifford Chance has elected litigation partner David DiBari as head of its Washington DC office following the defection of incumbent Leiv Blad.
White collar and regulatory partner DiBari replaces Blad in the managing partner role after he left the magic circle firm earlier this year to join Bingham McCutchen along with partners Jon Roellke and Boyd Cloern (TheLawyer.com, 13 November ).
Clifford Chance managing partner of the Americas Craig Medwick said: “In addition to being an outstanding lawyer who has successfully represented both domestic and multi-national clients in some of our largest international matters, David has the respect of his fellow partners, our team in Washington and throughout our global network.”
The move comes after the firm has lost a number of litigation partners in the US. Last month The Lawyer reported on New York partners John Carroll, David Meister and Warren Feldman defecting to Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom (2 December).
The departures also follow 20 associates having been laid off in the firm’s New York and DC litigation group due to a lack of work.
