As experienced readers will know, there is no escape from Tulkinghorn’s spies. They are everywhere. Including at local newspaper the Mid-Devon Star, which is how it came to pass that the great man learnt of the cricketing legacy of South West firm Ashfords.
Ashfords’ Tiverton office partner Stephen Walker said: “We’re delighted to mark our 25th year of playing cricket in mid-Devon, and we’ve always found it a very pleasurable and relaxing way of meeting other businesspeople in the area.”
Er, yes. He goes on: “The gentle sound of cork on willow and the lovely setting at Knightshayes invariably make for pleasant evenings, which are enjoyed by all.”
Spiffing. And who says the South West is sleepy?
