SJ Berwin is recruiting three partners for its Munich office, giving it European Union (EU) and competition law capability in Germany for the first time.
Corporate lawyers Thomas Pauls and Axel Pajunk join from Haarmann Hemmelrath & Partner.
EU and competition lawyer Alexander Rinne joins from Düsseldorf-based Bender Zahn Tigges.
SJ Berwin Knopf Tulloch Steininger name partner Uwe Steininger says Rinne will strengthen the EU practice and provide competition capability for the firm’s private equity and venture capital work in Germany.
“We already have strong competition practices in Brussels, London and Madrid and we want to match that in Germany,” he says. “We’ve taken on Pauls and Pajunk because in Germany we see a lot of venture capital and private equity work, and despite being one of the biggest firms in private equity, we still need to strengthen that area.”
The new arrivals bring the partner count in Munich up to seven.
