Tulkinghorn is perplexed. Lester Aldridge was last week trumpeting its 75th placing (up from 81st last year) in The Sunday Times’ Britain’s 100 Best Companies to Work For. The reason why staff love working for the South West firm? The firm’s managing partner Roger Woolley believes it’s because “we look after our people well”, while HR director Sarah Jones says: “We put a lot of effort into making [Lester Aldridge] a place where people look forward to coming each day.” These pronouncements were supported by pictorial evidence of what a fabulous place to work Lester Aldridge is. It appears the firm requires its fee-earners to dress up as pink prawns. Don’t laugh – it’s a South West thing. Rick Stein would approve.
