Eversheds is to reshuffle a number of its management roles in the wake of litigation and arbitration partner John Heaps taking on the chairman’s post last month.

Head of the construction and engineering group Richard Ward is to become London office location head for the litigation and arbitration group, taking over from Heaps, who will focus on his chairman duties and client relationships.

Ward’s number two, Simon Oats, who is currently head of the construction practice for London and the South East, will replace Ward. Oats will continue to have responsibility for London and the South East.

Heaps was formerly litigation head at the firm, a role he handed over to Ian Gray on 1 January 2008. He was then international, followed by London, head for litigation. He won a contested election to become chairman of the firm as of 1 May.
