Unit trust firm claims libel

Two unit trust companies are squaring up for a High Court libel battle over an advertising campaign. Jupiter Unit Trust Managers is suing Johnson Fry Asset Managers for damages following a Johnson Fry campaign. The campaign ran in national newspapers in April and May this year, and in a document called The Complete ISA Guide for Income, which was inserted in some newspapers and was directly mailed to thousands of people, according to a High Court claim. Jupiter, which is represented by Olswang, accuses Johnson Fry of making claims maliciously in the advert and is claiming damages for libel, malicious falsehood, and breach of contract, and seeking injunctions restraining it from further similar publishing.
