Regional firm Shoosmiths & Harrison has recently invested £350,000 upgrading its telecommunications system.
The firm has had 450 voice-mail boxes installed, and it plans to add the Octel HotDesk system soon.
This means that employees can be contacted on any of their phones, at home or on a mobile, through a single phone number.
The investment was initiated by the move of the corporate and client affairs department in the Northampton office to The Lakes, on the outskirts of Northampton.
Private client work will continue to be conducted from the city centre headquarters and the two offices are connected using 60 high-capacity telephone channels.
David Robbins, national IT manager of Shoosmiths & Harrison, said: "The need to provide easy and constant access to Shoosmiths & Harrison's employees by clients and other employees is critical. Client care is our first requirement in installing this equipment."
