Trade union firm Thompsons has reached a pay agreement with fee-earners and staff, ending the threat of strike action.
Thompsons HR coordinator Joanna Stephens told The Lawyer that the firm and staff had agreed to a 4 per cent wage increase, backdated to 1 October 2005.
GMB members, including solicitors, legal executives and administrative managers and staff, are understood to have voted on the offer in a ballot held earlier this month, with the result announced last Monday (6 February).
A spokesperson for GMB confirmed that the union had recommended the new offer, but would not comment further.
As first revealed by The Lawyer (9 January), GMB members had threatened strike action after rejecting two earlier offers, which also included a 4 per cent wage increase. Stephens explained that an agreement had been reached, as the original offer had only been partially backdated.
