McClures lures property team from Ledingham

Ledingham Chalmers has again been rocked by a Scottish rival, with McClure Naismith taking a property team following McGrigors’ stunning raid on Ledingham.

Last week, Ledingham’s two-partner Edinburgh property and social housing team, led by Philip Sim and Derek Hogg, moved to McClures. This comes after McGrigors’ hire of the Aberdeen energy team and the energy-related corporate and property teams last month.

McClures’ hire sees the firm grow to 29 partners, representing a 20 per cent growth in six months. McClures senior partner Kenneth Chrystie said: “Our growth is creating a wealth of new opportunities and challenges for our people, which in turn is helping the firm to attract and retain the best talent. We’re particularly excited about the opportunity to work in social housing.”

The firm is also expanding into new offices in Edinburgh and London as it plans to continue the rapid expansion. The London staff are expected to move in March, while the new-build site in Edinburgh is expected to be ready by June.

Ledingham senior partner David Laing said: “Derek and Philip were looking for a place to develop their practice and opted for McClures. I think that McGrigors probably saw limited scope for the social housing practice within their offering. The result is that everyone gets what they want. I wish Derek, Philip and their team success with their move.”
