Between 8pm and midnight.

What do you do at weekends?
Coach my kids’ youth sports teams, exercise and take my wife to dinner.

If you weren’t a lawyer what would you have been?
Girls’ fast pitch softball coach.

Who’s your hero and why?
Joe DiMaggio. I’m a passionate baseball and Yankees fan, and he embodied everything a great baseball player should be – and he married Marilyn Monroe.

What’s the best thing about your job?
My clients and my colleagues.

What’s the toughest thing about your job?
Being on the job 24/7, 365 days a year.

What’s your biggest work/career mistake and what did you learn from it?
As an associate I worked around the clock to complete a set of documents by a morning deadline and then left the mailing of them to a paralegal. The paralegal failed to mail them on time and the client was none too happy with the partner – and the partner was none too happy with me. I now make sure for myself that all deadlines are met.

What car do you drive?
Volvo.

What are you currently reading?
The World Is Flat by Thomas L Friedman.

What’s on your iPod at the moment?
Turin Brakes.

What’s your favourite children’s book?Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown.

What’s the most exciting deal/case you have worked on and why?
Successfully trying a securities fraud and Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act case to a New York jury. The case was fairly high profile and the legal and factual issues made it intellectually stimulating.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what two luxury items would you take?
Satellite TV to watch the Yankees and an iPod.

What’s the worst partner conference location you’ve attended and why?
New York in the dead of winter – owing to the weather, we had to spend the three days indoors.

What’s the longest you’ve worked without sleep?
Three days.

If a movie was being made about your life, which actor would play you and why?
Dennis Miller, the American comedian, satirist and actor. He elevates sarcasm to an art form.

Who would you least like to be stuck in a lift with and why?
Any religious fanatic. While I respect religious believers, I don’t like people who tend to be closed-minded and/or intolerant.
