Dutch financial giant ING has launched a global panel review in the first appraisal of its key advisers in more than five years.

Group general counsel Jan Willem Vink last held a global panel review in 2003, choosing Allen & Overy, Clifford Chance, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Linklaters and Lovells.

Slaughter and May ally De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek is the only Dutch firm on the list, sharing a joint place with US firm Sullivan & Cromwell.

Vink joined ING from Euronext in 2003, setting up the group’s first panel shortly after. Before this ING bankers had relationships with hundreds of firms in different jurisdictions.

ING is set to offload assets worth up to e8bn (£7.2bn) as part of a move away from risky investments to focus on the European market.
