Gibson Dunn & Crutcher’s London office has seen its first promotion to partnership for four years.

London-based litigation lawyer, Rachel Couter, is one of the 14 firmwide promotions which will be effective as of January next year. The firm which has five offices outside the US, promoted 13 lawyers in the States.

Gibson Dunn managing partner, Ken Doran, commented: “The promotions represent diverse practices across our offices which bring a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise.”

Last year, the firm promoted 11 to the partnership, one in Paris with the remainder in the US. In 2005, six were made up in the US with one promotion to its Paris office. In 2004 seven of the firm promotions were in the US with another one Munich.

The move comes after rival US firm, Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton yesterday (12 November) made eight promotions to partnership and 11 to counsel in its global network.
