White & Case boosts London salaries

White & Case has announced its latest round of salary increases in London, hiking associate salaries by an average of 2.1 per cent.

Newly qualified lawyers have received a £2,000 pay rise, from £76,000 last year up to £78,000, while a new trainee will receive £41,000, unchanged since last year’s hike from £36,000.

Last year trainees received a 13.8 per cent hike, while newly qualified lawyers saw salaries increase by 12.6 per cent up from £67,500 (The Lawyer, 8 May 2007).

Two year PQE will now receive a £97,000 salary, which climbs to £126,000 at four years PQE.

Allen & Overy froze associate salaries and grew trainee salaries by a modest £800 this year to 37,000.

Clifford Chance and Linklaters increased newly qualified salaries by five and four per cent growth respectively, to £66,600.
