However average profit per equity partner (PEP) has nudged up by just 2.4 per cent, to £801,000 from £782,000 last year.
Managing partner Ralph Cohen said: “We have had another very strong year, with great results in all our core areas. We are seeing a lot of major transactions, many with a significant international element.
“The year before we had strong performance in France and Germany, and that strong performance has continued.”
This year SJ Berwin’s German offices increased turnover 26 per cent, and Paris’ turnover increased by 16 per cent.
The firm’s upper mid-market private equity department had bagged a good share of the decreasing deal volumes across the market, Cohen added, but general corporate, competition, finance and real estate practices also contributed significantly to the increase in turnover.
