‘s best friend in Italy Bonelli Erede Pappalardo became the first Italian firm to break through the €100m (£68.57m) mark this month, posting a record revenue of €101m (£69.25m).

The figure represents 17.4 per cent increase on last year’s total of €86m (£58.7m).

Bonelli’s strong name for corporate work has helped drive the revenue growth. Apart from bagging deals on numerous IPOs, the firm has also won a choice mandate advising Italian motorway company Autostrade on its €25bn (£17.21bn) tie-up with Spain’s Abertis Infraestructuras.

The firm is looking to grow further, but in litigation rather than corporate for the time being. At this month’s partnership meeting, the partners voted to appoint Professor Laura Salvaneschi as a partner in the firm’s civil litigation practice.

Salvaneschi joins as a full equity partner from litigation boutique Lombardi Molinari e Associati. She is also a professor at the University of Milan, where she lectures on civil procedure and arbitration law.

The firm intends to push litigation as a core practice area and has appointed founding partner Sergio Erede as practice head.
