Appraisals
Appraisals are held on the anniversary of an individual’s joining date. Appraisers seek feedback from those who have worked with appraisees to encourage a spread of views and to increase objectivity. Appraisals are returned to HR and action points followed up.

Partner progression
There are 24 lateral partners. Youngest partner 29. Partner selection begins with a written submission to be made by individual departments to the board. The submissions include justification against published lawyer performance criteria and a business plan. Proposals are considered by the board and its comments form part of a promotion pack to be considered by a promotion panel. The final decision is made by the equity partners.

Billable hours target
1,500 for assistants and 1,200 for partners.

Flexible and part-time working
Twenty-two per cent of staff currently work either part time or flexible hours.

Holiday entitlement
Twenty-five days for assistants, with an extra day accruing per year up to 28 days. Salaried partners begin at 27 days, rising to 30 days.
