Hammonds is continuing to rebuild its insolvency team with the hire of partners Alistair Bacon and Jeremy Reilly from Matthew Arnold & Baldwin and Cobbetts respectively.
Bacon was the co-head of insolvency at Watford firm Matthew Arnold & Baldwin. He advised on the high profile liquidation of Fish! for key client Barclays, as well as acting on the administration of the Wap Store and the liquidation of Organic Clothing.
Reilly will join the firm’s Leeds office, while Bacon will be based in London.
The hires come after an exodus from the department in the past two years, which saw Chris Harlowe, Stephen Baylis and Lorinda Peasland depart last year, and two further partners leave in the middle of 2002.
Reilly and Bacon take the number of hires in the finance unit to five in the past six months. At the end of last year, the firm took on Chris Willison and Graeme Carney in London and Sergio Anania in Milan.
