Ashurst’s incumbent managing partner Justin Spendlove will shortly be replaced by young litigation partner Simon Bromwich.
Bromwich, who has only been a partner since 1999, has been installed under the new management system, which stipulates that the managing partner is appointed by the partnership board rather than by a ballot of the partners.
It is not clear whether Spendlove wished to be considered for the position.
Last December, Ashurst elected a new, slimmed-down board comprising Charlie Geffen, Mark Vickers, Ed Sparrow, Jeremy Hill and Logan Mair. Geoffrey Green also sits on the board.
