LCH.Clearnet, the London clearing house, has appointed Iona Levine as general counsel.
Levine joins from Minerva Chambers, a niche chambers dealing with hedge funds, foreign exchange and bonds issues, which she co-founded in 2004 with Lorraine Newbold.
Levine has also previously worked in-house at Citibank, Barclays Capital and HSBC, where she was global head of the treasury and capital markets legal team.
She chaired the London end of the BBA/New York foreign exchange legal committee and spent two and a half years chairing the Exchange Clearing House legal committee, which resulted in the launch of the first global foreign exchange multilateral netting exchange clearing house.
LCH.Clearnet group chief executive Roger Liddell said in a statement: “At this key time in the development of the Group, we are pleased to have [Levine’s] very relevant experience and skills to support us as we move forward.”
