BLP sees Johim through fund expansion programme
Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has advised new client JO Hambro Investment Management (Johim) on the launch of two new investment funds. The first was in relation to the expansion of Johim’s existing Waverton Investment Fund to include a new sub-fund called the Waverton Asia Pacific Fund; the second was in relation to the launch of the Tai Chi Fund, a Cayman-based hedge fund for US investors. BLP corporate partner Timothy Spangler led the team advising Johim.
Lawrence Graham advises Blenheim on Hilton sales
Lawrence Graham has advised investor Blenheim Property Group on the financing of the £382m sale of 15 hotels from the Hilton Group to the Managed Hotels Unit Trust. The purchased hotels – which include the Hilton Gatwick Airport and Hilton Olympia – will remain Hilton-branded, as the sale involves management agreements under which Blenheim will provide services to Hilton. The Lawrence Graham team was led by banking and real estate finance partner Nick Turner. Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) provided financing for the deal. SJ Berwin advised Hilton, while CMS Cameron Mckenna advised RBS and Blenheim.
Trowers instructed on Asia Energy’s AIM fundraising
Trowers & Hamlins, led by partner Richard Hildebrand, has strengthened its relationship with client Asia Energy after advising on its $52m (£29.9m) AIM equity fundraising. The fundraising, which consisted of new ordinary shares, was undertaken by JPMorgan Cazenove and will fund Asia Energy’s next coal project in Bangladesh. Slaughter and May advised JPMorgan Cazenove.
