Haftke is leaving the accountancy-tied firm, which he joined from Bird & Bird, after just two and a half years. He will head up Brobecks' intellectual property (IP)/IT group, following the departure of Pierre-Andre Dubois to Kirkland & Ellis in June.
The move follows that of Michael Sinclair, also an IT partner at KLegal, who left after just a year to join Simmons & Simmons.
It is understood Haftke's departure is not connected to the recent spate of redundancies at KLegal, which saw six partners, mostly in corporate and banking, lose their jobs.
Haftke, who was the head of KLegal's UK media and e-commerce group and chairman of the international IP/IT/e-commerce group, said: “I wanted to go to a firm that was more focused on technology clients.”
While the rate of technology-related transactions has fallen in the past 18 months, Brobecks managing partner Tom Kellerman said the sector was continuing to consolidate. IT firms were also attempting to wrest value out of previously unused IP.
It is expected that Haftke will take a number of his clients with him, including Sony Music Europe, Carlton and The Daily Telegraph.
