A&O’s Italian exodus continues

The Milan office of Allen & Overy (A&O) has lost yet another associate, this time to Bonelli Erede Pappalardo.

Corporate/M&A associate Elena Busson has left the magic circle firm after four years to join Slaughter and May‘s Italian best friend, where she will become a senior associate.

Busson is the latest in a series of associates departing A&O’s Milan office, coming two months after three banking associates left for Linklaters, which is building up its presence in the peninsula after a three-year hiatus following its split with Gianni Origoni Grippo.

The banking associates followed partner Davide Mencacci to Linklaters. A&O’s Italian banking team suffered a further blow when head of banking Giancarlo Castorino left the magic circle firm to join Italian independent MBL & Partners earlier this year.

A&O said only that Busson’s departure was unrelated to the others’.
