TJG banking head moves in reshuffle

Taylor Joynson Garrett is reshuffling its banking department after the firm's head of banking stepped down.

Rodney Dukes is replacing Robert Gayford today (Monday). Gayford was elected to head up the banking department in 1995 and again in 1997. He has decided to return to full-time client work within the six-partner department.

Regarding his decision to step down he says: “It is not unusual, two years work is the normal period [to head up] the department.”

Of his new role as head of banking, Dukes says: “It is not a question of seniority. It is a question of who has the energy and who has the ideas to take the practice forward.”

While Dukes admits the role will require more input into the management of the firm, he insists: “I will not be stepping down from the fee earning in the firm.”
