Brabners launches Manchester private client team

North West firm Brabners Chaffe Street has launched a private client department in its Manchester office.

Brabners has added a private client team to its Manchester office in a bid to service is Manchester-based clients. The team will be headed by private client partner Richard Bate and associate Elaine Russell, who will both re-locate from the Liverpool office. The firm already has private client departments in its Liverpool and Preston offices.

Bate told The Lawyer: “The firm is expanding so there is more demand for private client services. Additionally, clients themselves are becoming more aware about inheritance tax and are realising that they are falling into the tax net and need specialist advice. We have had enquiries flooding in so it is a big opportunity for us.”

Bate added: “We will be looking to grow the team next year, probably to three or four other lawyers.”

Since merging with 28-lawyer James Chapman & Co earlier in the year, Brabners has been steadily growing. It has projected that its combined turnover will be over £25m.

Earlier this month, the firm boosted its property offering by hiring partner Chris Parkinson from DLA Piper‘s Manchester office. Brabners’ 98-lawyer property group also snared associate Jo Mills from Walker Morris in late October.
