TLT opens in London with boutique merger” />Bristol’s TLT Solicitors has landed a foothold in the London market after securing a merger with 11-partner firm Lawrence Jones.

The move, effective in early May, delivers TLT a firm with a £3m turnover and its first offering outside Bristol.

Lawrence Jones has a well-established banking practice with a client list that includes Allied Irish Bank, Banco Espirito Santo, Caterpillar Financial Services and Sumitomo Electric Europe.

TLT managing partner David Pester said the firms’ shared banking and retail expertise was a key reason behind the merger. Lawrence Jones senior partner Michael Offer said: “The merger allows us to break through the glass ceiling we’ve been hitting with large clients.”

None of Lawrence Jones’s 11 partners will be joining TLT’s equity immediately, but it is understood that the situation will be reviewed in 12 months.

Last year, TLT reported turnover of £17.5m, up from £15.8m the previous year.

“Since 60 per cent of our work comes from outside the South West region and in response to client demand, we felt it appropriate to widen our coverage,” Pester told The Lawyer.
