Kirkland & Ellis partner selected for top civil rights role

The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law has elected a litigation partner from Kirkland & Ellis as co-chair.

Marjorie Press Lindblom will co-chair the US lawyers’ pro bono civil rights group for two years and will work alongside John Skilton of Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe. Lindblom succeeds Sullivan & Cromwell partner Stuart Meiklejohn to the role.

The Lawyers’ Committee was founded in 1963 at the request of President John F Kennedy to provide pro bono representation for those involved in the 1960s anti-racist civil rights movement. It currently represents US citizens in a number of areas from voting to environmental justice and education.
