Computer services giant Electronic Data Systems (EDS) has reshuffled its in-house legal function following the promotion of its general counsel for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Bruce Almquist has moved into a business role for EDS in the US and his current role of general counsel, EMEA will be assumed by UK legal director David Walter.
The move means that Walter, who joined EDS in 1999 from Faegre Benson Hobson & Audley, becomes the first non-American to hold the position.
Walter’s UK role will be taken by his deputy Matt Bennett who will oversee a team of eight lawyers. Walter’s EMEA team numbers about 100 staff across the region.
