Brotherly love

Isn't the whole point of spending millions of pounds on technology that it makes life easier? That's obviously what Clifford Chance thought when it installed a shedload of software which is supposed to keep up-to-date contact information on all the firm's partners. Imagine a particular partner's surprise, then, when he was desperately trying to get hold of one of his colleagues at the weekend. On ringing the CC switchboard, he was dutifully handed out the contact number for his workmate. But instead of talking to the chap he was after, he ended up on the blower to his colleague's brother. Not only that, but it was then discovered that the said brother was also named as the partner's next of kin – a responsibility that should go to the chap's wife. Oh well, there went a few more of CC's millions on trying to sort the whole mess out.
