Lovells has launched a dedicated Spanish intellectual property practice by relocating Hamburg-based partner Burkhart Goebel to the firm’s burgeoning Madrid arm.
The addition of IP expertise represents a further stage in the development of Lovells’ Spanish practice, following the opening of the firm’s Madrid office last September and the appointments of dispute resolution partner José Luis Huerta and tax partner Miguel Ángel Sánchez.
Burkhart, who has been a partner since 2002, will work closely with Urko Ochoa, a Spanish lawyer in Lovells’ Alicante office, and will be joined by Constanze Schulte, a senior associate from the Alicante office.
Commenting on the move, Lovells’ Spanish managing partner, José Maria Balañá, said: “We are fortunate to be able to launch our Spanish IP practice with one of the leading lights of our own practice. Burkhart will mobilise the support of the entire IP practice behind the Madrid office.”
