City firm Manches has advised Blackwell on a joint venture agreement which will form the world’s largest journal subscription agency.
Manches worked with five other law firms in three countries to secure the deal between Dutch companies Blackwell and Swets & Zeitlinger.
Corporate finance partner Mark Douglas led a team of five partners advising Blackwell, while principal adviser to Swets was Tom van Duuren of Dutch firm Derks Star Busmann Hanotiau.
Douglas says: “I have longstanding links with the Blackwell family, but this is the biggest deal of this kind I have ever done for them.”
CMS Cameron McKenna advised Swets in the UK, while Gilbert Segall & Young advised in the US.
Dutch firm Boekel de Neree worked for Blackwell in The Netherlands and US firm Proskauer Rose advised it in the US.
