I refer to the recent article regarding the suggested defection of a team of lawyers from Crills (20 January). I welcome this opportunity to clarify the position.

It is true that two salaried partners have left our financial services business team, but all the other lawyers and support staff remain in that team and it is business as usual at Crills. Recruitment and the level of work, in both non-contentious and contentious commercial fields, remain strong and I would not wish any of the many readers of The Lawyer who instruct us to think otherwise.

Those familiar with the Jersey legal environment will appreciate that the provision of advice with regard to Jersey-based transactions and structures can be just as well met by the smaller, focused firm as by the larger organisations. There is space for both in this market, and Crills will continue to satisfy the demand for its services as it has done for over 40 years.
