Linnells refocuses as offices break away

Oxfordshire-based Linnells is demerging two branch offices and losing four partners in a move to refocus the practice on commercial property and corporate work.

The 24-partner firm’s branches in Newport Pagnell and Milton Keynes are breaking away to merge with fellow Oxfordshire firm Borneo Martell. The merged firm will be known as Borneo Linnells and will concentrate on private client and residential property work.

Senior partner Jonathan Lloyd-Jones says: “The de-merger was entirely without rancour – it was their decision to go and we respect that.”

Linnells is now looking to build on its reputation as a service provider for the small and medium-sized enterprises appearing around Oxford’s academic centre.

The firm will concentrate on wooing high-tech firms and individuals investing in and around Oxford’s booming economy.

Lloyd-Jones says: “We felt that the firm could not have too many points of focus and must try to concentrate on building its commercial practice.

But he adds: “We will not abandon our private client and publishing work in a rush to embrace high-tech or new economy clients.”
