Jones Day City litigator Pearson seconded to NY

Jones Day has bulked up its cross-border litigation expertise in the USA, seconding a London litigator to the New York office.

London partner Stephen Pearson will be resident in New York for two years to strengthen the firm’s transatlantic litigation team.

Jones Day New York litigation partner, Jay Tambe, said: “We have an excellent litigation group in London and this has added to our global practice. We have so many cases that have cross-border elements that incorporate the UK. Having Stephen’s expertise in New York is very good for the practice.”

Pearson, who is dual-qualified in England and New York, has advised on a number of key litigations in the UK. These include the dispute resolution relating to the $31.2bn (£17.58bn) TNK-BP merger, the largest ever Russian corporate transaction to date in 2004.

Tambe added: “Our London litigation group has certainly evolved in recent years to become a truly cross-border practice. The firm has grown significantly in Europe, and litigation has been a crucial part of that.”
