Clifford Chance has lost the co-head of its private funds group Stephen Ross to the asset management arm of client Man Group, a global provider of alternative investment products.

Jason Glover, who currently shares the role, will head the private funds group when Ross leaves.

Ross, who has been a partner in the private funds group for the last five years, is due to join Man Investments as global head of legal structuring and corporate finance in December.

Clifford Chance senior partner Stuart Popham said: “Stephen has made a considerable contribution to the firm’s private equity funds and alternative investments work, as part of one of London’s leading private funds practices. His appointment by Man Group is a great compliment to the firm. We’re sorry to see him go, but he goes with our very best wishes in his future role.”

Ross has advised on over 100 Man Investments products dating back to 1995 and is one of the key relationship partners for the Man Group. In his new position, his main responsibility will be to manage the worldwide legal and financing aspects of product offerings during a phase of expected rapid growth and deregulation.
