Nominet, the operator of the .uk internet domain, is looking for 10 IP and internet specialists to join its dispute resolution panel as it looks to cope with the growing number of domain name disputes.
The experts will act as judges on domain name disputes.
Nominet senior legal counsel Nick Wenban Smith said: “It’s four years since we last reviewed the panel of experts and the increased number of disputes is proportional to the growth in .uk domain names on the register.”
He added that there are three million more .uk domain names now than in 2004 – a total of 6.25 million. Experts deal with around one dispute a month and are paid £750 for each case.
Nominet currently has a 37-strong panel of experts, which includes Herbert Smith IP head Nick Gardner.
