Gianni Origoni’s close association with Linklaters has helped it score Cisco Systems as a new client.
The firm won a beauty parade to be Cisco’s sole legal adviser in Italy. Cisco’s head of Italian legal Max Orazi said that Gianni’s international ties with Linklaters worked in its favour.
The firm’s head of employment and labour law Alberto Maggi led the team that pitched for the role last November and the firm will now handle all routine corporate and commercial, intellectual property/IT and labour and employment work, in a one-year renewable contract.
Last year, in a bid to rein in its legal spend, Cisco announced its intention to pick a single law firm to perform all of its routine work in Italy.
Commenting on the fledgling relationship with Gianni, Orazi said: “I’m very pleased so far. They’re really getting it right.”
