Farrers benefits from English Partnerships hire

Farrer & Co is to reap the expertise of planning law expert Pat Thomas after the firm recruited the former SJ Berwin senior planning and environment partner as a part-time consultant.

Thomas quit SJ Berwin after 18 years as a partner at the end of June 2006 to take a consultancy position with the national regeneration agency English Partnerships, working on the advisory team for large applications (Atlas) unit.

Thomas now joins Farrers’ commercial property team and will divide her time between consulting at the firm and working with the British Property Federation’s technical committee, as well as a number of other industry positions.

Thomas, who was awarded an OBE for services to town and country planning in 2003, said: “I like the challenge of building another planning law practice working in different areas.

“Farrers introduces me to a new client base, with not only private client work but also institutional clients in the higher education, museums, galleries and schools sectors, all of whom hold property assets,” she said.
