UK team battles to return Elgin Marbles to Greece

Sir Louis Blom-Cooper QC has joined the team planning to launch the first ever legal battle to return the Elgin Marbles to Greece.
Blom-Cooper of Doughty Street Chambers was informally retained by UK lawyer David Charity at a meeting to set up the Parthenon Marbles Trust. Charity said: “The trust deed was signed. We're now entitled to receive donations. We exist as a charitable trust.”
Charity will make a trip to Greece as soon as possible to speak to the government.
Without government in-volvement, Charity said the claim would be brought by a representative citizen of Greece.
An Anglo-Greek consortium led by Greek businessman George Lemos is backing Charity's investigation into a legal claim (The Lawyer, 11 February). Also involved in the team are Stewart Boyd QC of Essex Court and Dominic Dowley of Serle Court.
